Vodacom has recently been having many problems with their network, especially with their Blackberry network. Most of the Blackberry devices are having problems with network delays such as BBM messages taking a long time to send, emails also take long to send and especially web pages take more than usual to load.
Currently, every night has that problem. Vodacom has denied to compensate the users with a refund despite stated in the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) that Vodacom has to refund those customers. In response, Vodacom mentioned that “Section 54 of the Consumer Protection Act does not make provision for a claim for damages such as loss of business or income, and they would hence not refund subscribers.”
Nokia had announced that Symbian won’t die out, you may call the Nokia 500 proof of that Symbian isn’t dying out. The device runs on the latest Symbian Anna which the Nokia N8 users will be able to download sometime this month.
The 5 megapixel camera, 3.2″ touchscreen have a 1GHz processor in between those 2 components. The device release date hasn’t been seen but the prices have been told, the internet is flooded with prices ranging from €150-250 before subsidies and taxes.
Nokia 500 Specs (to be updated)
With many LG Optimus devices, this is one of the best ones after the LG P920 3D. Vodacom at the moment, is offering the LG P970 for R430 which includes 110MB data free for the first 3 months. With this device being really thin, it doesn’t weigh that much either.
With high internet speeds up to HSDPA at 7.2 Mbps, surfing the web will be fast and without fear if you drop your device, the Gorilla Glass display will do its job. The device does come with Froyo but you can upgrade it to Gingerbread.
A device that has good social integration, has a suitable keyboard for emails, that same device that should have 3G, doesn’t have 3G. The Nokia is a good device but its lacking 3G, something that is essential with smartphones and especially if the purpose is social networking.
Again, contracts are expensive therefore many people look more forward to prepaid devices since it is cheaper and that the user can use the device without any limits. With this Top Up 135 contract deal, you get 50 free sms’s for the 2 year contract length and get charged with per minute billing.
The Nokia E6 is the latest Nokia device which runs on Symbian Anna, is currently available at Vodacom at R800 for 2 years which then the customer pays R19200, there are other options to buy the device on prepaid at a cost of R5000±. Even though you won’t get all the benefits with the prepaid deal, it is better then paying it once-off then use it the way you want.
The device has recently been added to the Vodacom sale list therefore the deal is till stock lasts. Nokia has mentioned many times that Symbian Anna will be available during the beginning of August, after the Nokia E6 and X7 have been released.
Vodacom has finally introduced the LG C300 Town for sale at a price of R135 per month for the 2 year contract length. The deal does include 20 free SMS per month for the 2 years, with this deal, there is per second billing rather than per minute.
The LG device has a QWERTY keyboard which should be easy for computer users to use, but with no 3G, web browsing will be difficult and slow especially since there isn’t the latest flash. But for those that want a normal device for everyday use, this is a good choice and indeed recommended.
There are many types of Samsung Galaxy S II devices but not all of them have NFC, atleast that’s what Samsung has told the media but it could be that the Galaxy S II for At&t might be the one to be equipped with NFC since it is the latest Galaxy S II device.
The NFC antenna that the device uses, it exploits 850 / 1900 bands which means that there is a possibility that this NFC-enabled device is meant for AT&T, Bell, Rogers, or Telus. The sizes are similar to the Europeans model therefore it may also be for them, but yet again, the NFC network says more.
