Blackberry devices are famous mainly for their BBM functions as well as internet capabilities, MTN is offering the cheapest Blackberry device available in the market for R1849 on MTN PayAsYouGo. The device features dedicated music keys as well brings a 2GB memory card.
The deal also twists a free starter pack which will be RICA activated once the user acquires the device. MTN does currently only show a black Blackberry 8520 Curve on offer but others colours do exist.
The ZTE manufactured device, S308 is available on MTN PayAsYouGo for R69. This device is mainly targeted at those that just want a device to make the regular calls, send text messages and know the time. The 1.4″ display is good enough for those people.
This deal also brings a free starter pack as well as 420 minutes voice talk time. Other private deals are reaching up to R100 to R200. ZTE mentions on the specs list that the FM radio is optional and that this device has a flashlight which is powered by the 670mAh battery.
The HTC Flyer, a tablet that is worth it after reading some reviews. The MTN deal is currently at R299 per month for 2 years which includes 75MB internet bundle for the contract length. The difference between the prepaid version of the device and this device on contract isn’t too much, the prepaid device costs R7000 while this device will cost R7176 which shows that the full 75MB internet bundle isn’t charged.
Packed with a 1.5GHz Processor, Dual Front and Back Cameras, 32GB Storage Space, 3G capabilities as well as the latest Android software, Gingerbread. This device is surely recommended.
The Samsung E250, a budget device that is currently available at MTN stores is selling for R389 on MTn PayAsYouGo, the deal also includes a free starter pack which of course that you have to RICA.
For a regular user that makes average voice calls and sends SMS’s, this device is just fine. The device also has a mobile tracker which specs websites don’t show. The device does also pack the regular Bluetooth as well as a (VGA) 0.3 megapixel camera and a MP3 player.
MTN updated its website to allowing the customers to see their Yello Trader online which is quite convenient for the users that kept on constantly seeing the same deals each time they access the smartphone section. The device packs Android 2.2 Froyo but cannot be upgraded to Gingerbread at this moment. With a Snapdragon 1GHz Processor and a 7″ WVGA Capacitive Screen, you can take HD videos according to the Yello Trader ad but according to a test done by me with the Huawei S7 Slim, it can’t take HD videos. The device is currently selling at R179 per month for 2 years. You also get 150MB data per month for the first year.
Android is normally the most wanted OS by the Americans but MTN is still offering the MTN Optimus One at R129, this amy be a good strategy to sell ever piece because the Blackberries and iPhone smartphones are the most popular in South Africa.
With the standard R209 SIM Connection once off fee, you receive a 3G megapixel, HSDPA and the Froyo device. It hasn’t been tested by me if Gingerbread will work on it but it should. Or you can stick to the updates.
I recently informed about the Galaxy Tab deal at Cell C which offers at R299 per month whereas its competitor is selling the same tablet at a higher price of R130 but it includes 200MB more in the deal.
Part of the deal is that the deal is m limited to stock availability. The way that this contracts works out is that R209 is taken for SIM and connection fee at a once off rate. The sad part is that if MTN received more of the other Galaxy Tabs to sell then it would be hard as it would be recognized as a expensive deal offerer.
